Emulsion (noun)
I found this word when I was reading my visual communications text book for MCOM 70
A photo sensitive coating, usually of silver halide grains in a thin gelatin layer, on photographic film, paper or glass.
The photograph was ruined by the bright light, and the emulsion was completely burned off.
